Traditionally, wedding invitations are mailed with two envelopes - an outer envelope and an inner envelope to help protect and keep your invitation clean/undamaged when traveling through the mail. Today, not many couples carry out that tradition and keep with one envelope. If you are looking to have an envelope liner, twine, ribbon or wax seals for your invitation suite, double envelopes are highly suggested to ensure safe mailing.
